Our Story
Prem Yoga Studio (formerly known as Yoga Remedy Essential Wellness) was established from the grace of the masters (Gurus) to serve society by strengthening the individual with the true knowledge of Yoga and Ayurveda to help in attaining spiritual, mental and physical well-being. Our core value is to help the individual find peace within themselves and to unite people in our society of different cultures, traditions, religions, and nationalities to create a stress-free, violence-free society.
To enrich their spirituality and to uplift human life, we provide the essential wellness tools such as yoga and meditation classes, fitness, rehabilitation, personal training, nutrition, yogic life style, wellness workshops, spiritual discourses which serve all towards the same aim: to raise every human being to the peak of their potential, be exuberant, all inclusive, in harmony within themselves and the world.
Our Spiritual Teacher - Swami Mukundananda Ji
Swami Mukundananda finished his B.Tech. from the world-renowned Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He then completed his MBA from the equally revered Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kolkata. After that, he worked for some time with one of India’s topmost industrial houses. However, distinguished material education and a promising corporate career did not quench his thirst for knowing the Absolute Truth. His penchant for a deeper understanding of the nature of divine love and bhakti (devotion) would drown his mind in spiritual thoughts for extended periods. Soon, the longing for God was so strong that he renounced his career and travelled throughout India as a wandering monk.
During these travels, he associated closely with many elevated saints of India, read the writings of the great Acharyas of the past, and lived in many famous holy places. Ultimately his search took him to the lotus feet of his Spiritual Master, Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj (who is lovingly called “Maharajji” by his devotees). He was overawed by the unfathomable scriptural knowledge and ocean of Divine love that he saw manifest in his Spiritual Master. About this first meeting, Maharajji later remarked, “He recognized me as one would recognize his mother.”
Under the guidance of Shree Maharajji, he practiced intense sadhana while residing at the ashram. He also extensively studied the Vedic scriptures, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavatam and the Indian and Western systems of philosophy. He also perfected the principle meditation technique called “Roop Dhyan”, as revealed and taught by Shree Kripaluji Maharaj. Upon completion of his studies, his Guru entrusted him with the key task of propagating the ancient knowledge of the Eternal Truth the world over.
For the last quarter of a century, Shree Swamiji has been traveling far and wide, awakening hundreds of thousands of seekers. Wherever Swamji goes, he attracts huge audiences. Hearing the profound secrets of the Vedas from him is a rare privilege, for he is able to explain the ancient esoteric knowledge with rigorous scientific logic, in the modern context. Using perfect logic, and a simple-yet-scientific approach, Swamiji offers new ways of understanding and applying the knowledge of the scriptures in our daily lives. The hallmark of his lectures is the ease with which he dispels various myths and misnomers associated with the various paths of God-realization.
Our Lead Yoga Teacher - Devi
Devi grew up in Myanmar where she learnt the traditional values of wellbeing in a meditative society with a profound eastern culture. She has always been actively involved in fitness training, gymnastics, dance, and several athletic sports. In her early years, she was also involved in activities such as aerobics, Tai Chi and gymnastics. She started teaching Yoga in 2009. Her studies carried over to India, where she acquired instruction under well-known gurus. She attained several disciplinary forms of meditation, classical yoga, and many divisions of health and fitness.
Her passion continued to stretch further to the west and she came to the United States to study public health. As she was pursuing to become a physical therapist, she was drawn into a holistic and alternative medicine approach and she decided to continue her education with Ayurveda instead. Her accomplished training includes contemporary health, personal training, kinesiology, nutrition, exercise therapy, silent courses, meditation training and many different lineages of yoga. She is an experienced 200 RYT & 500 RYT in yoga and meditation, certified as an Ayurvedic Medicine educator, Prem Yoga Teacher Trainer. By understanding both eastern and western aspects of lifestyle, she embraces a compassionate approach to everyone’s needs. Her teaching is a very unique and effective way for people not only towards working out and circuit training for their health but also emphasizing on the individual’s lifestyle & spirituality with mind/body principles. Her hands-on stretching and personal teaching sessions are highly recommended by her students for the ultimate experience in achieving flexibility and rehabbing injuries, which diminishes their limitations and takes them to their best potential.
